At last, the water arrives to thirsty trees...   

                                                  


 ... through 1/2 soft tubing  to which are attached little drippers.  If the tubing simply had holes in it, the water would rapidly run out in some places and never get to others.  The water needs to be filtered to keep the drippers for clogging.
Inside the dripper the water is directed in a long narrow spiral path  which slows it down until it comes out a drip at a time. This allows those 15 gallons a minute to water the entire grove very slowly, one gallon every hour for each dripper.  

In this way, no water is wasted and the tree rootlets are able to use it immediately because their air supply is not removed by a sudden onrush of water.  When the temperatures climb above 100 and the rain does not come, each dripper delivers life, one drop at a time.
