From the tank the water arrives here. This is called the head assembly. The first cylinder filters the water. Then the arrow shaped regulator with the two heads reduces its pressure to a predefined amount ( 35 pounds per square inch in this case). This is needed because the narrow tubes which water the trees are damaged at higher pressures.
And why is the filtering needed ? We will see this shortly.
